about

I hold a Master’s degree in Portuguese Language and Culture – Portuguese as a Foreign / Second Language and I’m a graduate in Asian Studies by the Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon. I have eight years' experience teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language in the classroom, private lessons and online classes. I have worked with dozens of students from a wide variety of backgrounds and was a founder and pedagogical coordinator of a Portuguese language school in Lisbon before moving to the Algarve. I’m specially interested in developing new teaching approaches and in using dynamic and interactive classroom activities. Passioned about nature, music and art. Favorite place in the world? The classroom, where it’s possible to travel all around the world.

My mission is to teach the Portuguese language and promote Portuguese culture in all of its diverse and wide-ranging aspects. It is also my strategic mission to develop and produce original teaching materials that support students’ learning of Portuguese language, both in face-to-face teaching and distance learning. To replace the traditional teaching process and propose a reconfiguration of learning that promotes the integration of language knowledge and culture. To allow the understanding of Portuguese language as the true identity and self-recognition of a people, a country and a culture.

My Portuguese has improved A LOT since working with Sara. She is a dynamic and patient teacher, and lessons are often focused on the interests and needs of her students. It has been easier and more fun to learn talking about the topics I am interested in and care about, and then translating all my learning immediately into my life.
